Accommodation Payments

In accordance with amendments to the Aged Care Act 1997 (Cth) any person entering permanent residential care on or after 1 July 2014 may be asked to pay a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) or Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP), in addition to their Basic Resident Contribution (Daily Care Fee).The requirement to pay a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) and/or Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) is based on the persons Assets at the time of admission and the type of room offered for placement.

If a person’s Assets are greater than approximately 2.5 times the annual pension amount, presently $45,000 (1 July 2014), they will be required to pay a RAD, or a DAP, or a combination of both.  The type of payment is at the residents’ choice.

There are presently four (4) room types offered within Akooramak as follows:

One Star (Basic): Shared room with no ensuite with a maximum of 2 occupants; RAD of $195,000 or DAP of $35.42 per day, or combination of both.
Two Star (Median): Single room with private ensuite; RAD of $250,000 or DAP of $45.41 per day, or combination of both.
Three Star (Better): Single room with private ensuite; RAD of $300,000 or DAP of $54.49 per day, or combination of both.
Four Star (Best): Single room with private ensuite and reverse cycle inverter split system air-conditioning; RAD of $350,000 or DAP of $63.57 per day, or combination of both.

These RAD and/or DAP amounts are maximum amounts. Any variations to these maximum amounts will be reflected on the relevant websites.
